About Sara Salty

A plain guide to golf cart life on Florida’s Gulf coast, written from Sun City Center, where the golf cart is the family car.

Why this site exists

Ask whether you can drive a golf cart on a Gulf coast island and you will get five answers, most of them about a different vehicle. Rental companies rent LSVs and call them golf carts. Old handbooks quote an age rule the Legislature repealed in 2023. Blogs repeat a "30 mph road" rule that is not in the statute. Sara Salty separates the plain golf cart from the tagged LSV, names the city or county that sets each rule, links to the ordinance where one exists, and says so plainly where one could not be found.

How the pages are checked

Every town page carries a last checked date and one of three confidence notes: checked against official sources, partly checked, or based on local reports. Where a rule rests on a rental operator's terms or a newspaper article rather than an ordinance, the page says so. Where we found nothing official, the verdict is not confirmed, which you should read as no until the town tells you otherwise.

Nothing here is legal advice. A posted sign, a city notice or a police officer outranks this website.

Corrections

If a rule has changed, a sign has gone up or a link is dead, email info@sarasalty.com with the town and, if you have it, a photo of the sign or a link to the ordinance. Corrections are the most useful thing a reader can send.

Who is behind it

Sara Salty is published by the people behind Parts ’n Carts, a golf cart parts and service business in Sun City Center, Florida, and GolfCartNearMe, a directory of golf cart dealers, rentals and repair shops. The town pages do not sell anything. Where a guide mentions a part or a service, it links to the shop; you can buy it anywhere.
